When passing a cyclist on an Ontario road, you must leave a minimum clearance of:

The one-metre rule is law in Ontario. Less clearance risks a catastrophic collision if the cyclist wobbles, gets hit by debris, or swerves around a pothole. Slow down and wait for safe gap if one metre is not achievable.
