A tire with a three-peak mountain and snowflake symbol is labelled as:

The three-peak mountain/snowflake (3PMSF) symbol meets a tested snow-traction threshold. M+S-rated tires (mud and snow) without this symbol do not meet the winter standard. Insurance discounts require 3PMSF-marked tires.
