A school bus with its overhead amber (yellow) lights flashing means:
Show Answer & Explanation
Correct Answer: B. The bus is preparing to stop — prepare to stop too
Amber flashing = the bus is slowing to stop. When red flashes begin, the legal stop requirement triggers. Treating amber as optional — and then racing to get past before red — is the cause of many close calls.
Why the other answers are wrong
- A.The bus is turning leftTurn signals are separate from the overhead lights.
- C.The bus has broken downBreakdown uses hazards, not the school bus lighting system.
- D.Children are boardingBoarding is when red lights flash, not amber.
